What a few months it's been. I've gritted my teeth in headwinds and gone out on the coldest of mornings, learning for the first time what it feels like to cycle on a day that was destined for snow. I had the privilege to spend a week with Felicity showing her my favourite Sydney cycling spots and people. I've spent some time on the inside of an ambulance vehicle after accidentally learning how to fly. I've had friends help me get back up (thanks Danny, Emma, Jeff, Maz and all of the crew), and I've gotten back on my bike with persistence, grit, a little bit of courage, and the thought of some kids out there in a hospital doing it tougher than I have.

And now it's time. In just under one week, Felicity and I and our 30 intrepid teammates will be rolling out from Townsville for our 350km bike ride. Why are we doing this?

Every year more than 950 Australian children and adolescents will be diagnosed with cancer, and every week nearly three Australian children and adolescents will die of cancer. Children’s Cancer Institute exits solely to put a stop to this.

As the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to childhood cancer, our role is vital. Because, despite our progress, cancer still kills more than any other disease.

Our task won’t be easy – childhood cancer is hugely complex – but we’re confident that with the brightest brains, the best facilities and the greatest determination, we will get the job done.

Thank you to everyone who has already helped me out. If you've been thinking about chipping in and haven't had a chance, please follow the link to the page below. Getting excited! Updates to come.
